MyDVD is a DVD-authoring program aimed at home users who want to get their movies onto disk. It’s essentially a DVD authoring tool that allows you to edit your home movies and then burn them to DVD. However, this suite offers much more than just DVD authoring, with a supporting cast of programs that cover everything from basic video and photo editing to disc burning and duplication. This software also offers more than you’ll find in Movie Maker, as you’ll be able to create slideshows of your favorite photos, as well as use the built-in software for copying and creating music and data CDs and DVDs.
It has an easy interface with the main controls split into two sections on the left-hand side: Menu Tasks and Edit. Menu Tasks allows you to either select video from your hard drive or to import movies direct from your camcorder or other external source. Edit allows for a range of tasks to be carried out with most of them taking place in separate windows. There are a lot of features on that allow you to trim footage to length and even add basic features, such as transitions and fades. You can edit and change brightness and colour contrast of images and even speed up or slow down footage. Disc navigation options are more sophisticated, with the ability to set where playback moves to after each video has finished. The embedded CineMagic feature makes movie production easier.
